What does “Item Booked” mean in India Post tracking?
The sender has handed the item over and it is now in the India Post network. This is the first scan in the journey.
What happened
The item has been accepted at a post office.
What happens next
The booking office will process and dispatch it, usually within a day. Your next update will normally be a dispatch scan.
Do you need to do anything?
Nothing to do yet. If the status stays here for more than two working days, ask the sender to check with the booking office.
If the record then sits unchanged for longer than the distance explains, readwhy tracking stops updating. For anything only India Post can act on — a redirect, a complaint, a claim — call1800 266 6868 or use itscomplaint portal.
This describes how India Post normally operates. It is not a delivery guarantee or an estimated delivery date.
