How to Track an India Post Shipment
Three steps. No account needed.
1
Find your tracking number
It's on the post office receipt, in a confirmation SMS or email from the sender, or on the package label. It's usually 13 characters — two letters, an eight-digit serial, a check digit, then the country code.
2
Enter it
Paste or type the number into the tracking field below (or on the homepage) and press Track.
3
Read the result
You'll see the current status, latest location, last updated time, and a full scan-by-scan history.
What the result shows you
Current status — what's happening with the item right now (booked, in transit, out for delivery, delivered, etc.)
Latest location — the last post office or sorting facility that scanned it.
Last updated time — when the most recent scan happened.
Full scan history — every recorded event from booking to current status, in order.
If nothing comes up
- Check the number. A single wrong digit or letter means no match. Copy-paste it if you can.
- Wait 24–48 hours. Items booked very recently may not appear in the system yet.
- Confirm it's the consignment number. Order IDs, reference numbers and application numbers won't work here — you need the number assigned by India Post.
