Track India Post

Tool

Tracking number checker.

Enter a tracking number to check its format. This does not look up the shipment — it only tells you whether the number matches the standard India Post pattern and which broad class of postal service it belongs to.

What this tool does not do

This checks the shape of the number only. A number can have a valid format and still not correspond to any real shipment — it might be too old, mistyped by one digit, or from a format the system accepts but that was never issued. To confirm the shipment exists, you need to do an actual tracking lookup.

It also will not tell you which India Post product you paid for. The two leading letters are a service indicator allocated by the UPU's S10 standard in ranges, and India Post does not publish which exact pair it assigns to which of its own services — so this tool reports the class the standard defines and stops there. Any site showing you an exact prefix-to-service table is guessing. How to read the format explains each part of the number.
